Arte y comunidad es una serie de encuentros diurnos vivenciales donde se ofrecen talleres educativos en donde converge el arte y la sustentabilidad en un marco de conexión e intercambio comunitario. En estos pasadías compartimos el aprendizaje, los alimentos, las tareas y aspectos de vida comunitaria en el espacio. En estos eventos catalizamos dinámicas de reflexión y socialización en un ambiente natural y seguro.
En esta serie realizada de mayo a julio de 2022 participaron personas vecinas, principalmente de Jayuya y Utuado, como también de otros pueblos de la isla. Gracias al apoyo del Instituto de Cultura de Puerto Rico y el National Endowment for the Arts pudimos realizar esta serie de encuentros de manera gratuita. Este programa es diseñado y llevado a cabo por Camp Tabonuco en Jayuya, PR.
Los talleres y actividades realizadas fueron:
1. Raíces: color y comida (Taller de cocina y taller de arte usando raíces comestibles y tintóreas como la cúrcuma, remolacha, yuca y jengibre) con Samantha Rabaudi y Rosaura Rodríguez
2. Casa Abierta (Pizza al horno de leña, compartir al aire libre, actividades creativas)
3. Tejido de canasta con Enea con Jomary Ortega
4. Tejido con Palma de Coco: proceso y técnica con Pepo González
5. Bomba: música y baile afro-caribeño con Marién Torres
6. Germinar para comer: de la flor a la semilla en tu plato con Gladys Nazario y Rosaura Rodríguez

Art and Community is a series of experiential daytime encounters where we offer educational workshops in which art and sustainability converge in a framework of community connection and exchange. In these daytrips we share learning, food, tasks and aspects of community life in our space. In these events we catalyze dynamics of reflection and socialization in a natural and safe environment.
In this series from May to July 2022, neighbors from Jayuya and Utuado participated, as well as from other towns on the island. Thanks to the support of the Institute of Culture of Puerto Rico and the National Endowment for the Arts, we were able to host this series free of charge. This program is designed and carried out by Camp Tabonuco in Jayuya, PR.
The workshops and activities carried out were:

2. Open House (wood-fired pizza, outdoor sharing, creative activities)
3. Basketry with Enea (cat-tail) with Jomary Ortega
4. Weaving with Coconut Palm: process and technique with Pepo González
5. Bomba: Afro-Caribbean music and dance with Marién Torres
6. Sprouting for food: from the flower to the seed on your plate with Gladys Nazario and Rosaura Rodríguez
